Programming
To get into programming mode, press and hold the button on power up, and the light will start flashing slowly and then speed up. Once this happens, release the button and the light will flash red, starting with one flash, counting up till 6, and then cycling back to 1.
Protocol Selection
When the red light flashes once, press the button again to go into protocol selection. The LED will flash green, the number of flashes indicating the selected protocol. Press the button to increase the value of flashes. Once the correct value is shown. Press and hold the button until the LED starts flashing red again. This will return the device to the main programming menu.
Channel Assignment
To assign the channels of the output ports, press the button when the red light flashes between 2-5 times (2 flashes being port 1, 3 flashes being port 2, etc). Select the port that you want to assign, and it will flash with the current channel value. From factory, port 1 is channel 1 (for throttle when used on a SMART receiver), and port 2 to 4 are channels 7 to 9. Press the button to increase the channel value, and when the correct value has been reached, press and hold the button to confirm the channel, and return the device to the main programming menu.
To make the counting easier, the LED uses short flashes to show 1, and a long flash to show 5. For example, two long flashes followed by two short flashes shows 12. For SRXL/SRXL2, channels 13 to 20 are X+1 to X+8, which is shown with an orange flash instead of green.
Assisted Channel Assignment
To make the channel assignment an easier process, we have developed an auto channel assign method. Before the channels can be auto assigned, the protocol has to be selected and the transmitter setup complete. Once this is done, press and hold the button on power up, and release as soon as it starts flashes, and then press the button a second time. The LED will then give a single flash, meaning the port 1 is ready for the channel to be assigned. Move the channel that you want the port to be assigned to. Once the correct channel is assigned, press the button again to proceed to the next port. Repeat this until all four ports are assigned to the correct channel. Once you have reached the fourth port, pressing the button again will cycle back round to the first port and the process will start again. Once the channels are all correct, press and hold the button to confirm the settings.
Setting Output Rate
To set the output rate of the Serial Expander, select the 6th flash from the main programming menu. The LED will start with a single green flash, indicating a 50Hz Output Rate. Press the button to cycle through the different options. These are:
- 50Hz (1 flash)
- 100Hz (2 flashes)
- 200Hz (3 flashes)
- 300Hz (4 flashes)
- 330Hz (5 flashes)
Normal Operation
Once the expander is configured for use, it’s ready for install. The LED indicates the status of the Serial Expander whilst powered
